Your wellness data is deeply personal. We treat it with the highest level of care and respect. We never sell your data, and you always have full control over your information.
1. Introduction
Welcome to Serenity House ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
We understand that wellness information is among the most sensitive personal data. We are committed to protecting your privacy and giving you control over your data.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Account Information

2.2 Mood Tracking Data
When you log your mood, we collect:
- Mood label - Your selected mood (happy, sad, calm, anxious, etc.)
- Specific emotion - More detailed emotional states (e.g., joyful, peaceful)
- Notes - Optional text you add to describe how you're feeling
- Tags - Categories you assign to your mood entries
- Activities - What you were doing (exercise, socializing, resting, etc.)
- Energy level - Your energy on a 1-5 scale
- Mood quadrant - Whether your mood is high/low energy and pleasant/unpleasant
- Timestamps - When the mood was recorded
2.3 Journal Entries
Your journal data includes:
- Journal title - The title of your entry
- Journal content - Your written thoughts and reflections
- Tags - Categories you assign to entries
- AI feedback - Optional supportive feedback generated by AI
- Linked mood - Connection to mood entries (if any)
- Timestamps - When entries were created and updated
2.4 Reflective AI Conversations
When you use the Reflective AI feature:
- Chat session titles - Names for your conversation threads
- Messages - Both your messages and AI responses
- Timestamps - When messages were sent
Important Note on AI Conversations
AI chat messages are processed by Google Gemini AI to generate responses. While we take care to anonymize requests where possible, message content is sent to Google's servers for processing. See Section 5 for more details.
2.5 Preferences & Settings
- Wellness goals - Goals you select during onboarding (track emotions, reduce stress, anxiety, etc.)
- Reminder times - Your preferred check-in reminder schedule
- Theme preferences - Your chosen accent color and light/dark mode
- Check-in streak - Your consecutive days of mood tracking
- Notification settings - Your notification preferences
- Offline mode preference - Whether you use offline mode
- Emergency resource region - Your selected region for crisis resources
2.6 Achievement Data
- Unlocked achievements - Milestones you've reached
- Achievement timestamps - When achievements were unlocked
2.7 Technical Data
We may collect limited technical data to improve the app:
- Device type and operating system
- App version
- Crash reports (if you opt in)
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your information to:
- Provide app functionality - Enable mood tracking, journaling, and Reflective AI features
- Personalize your experience - Show insights based on your mood patterns
- Sync across devices - Keep your data available when you log in on different devices
- Send reminders - Deliver check-in notifications at your preferred times
- Generate AI responses - Provide supportive chat responses and journal feedback
- Improve the app - Use aggregated, anonymized data to enhance features
We Do NOT
• Sell your personal data to third parties
• Use your data for advertising purposes
• Share identifiable data with employers, insurers, or other parties
• Mine your wellness data for commercial purposes
4. Data Storage & Security
4.1 Local Storage (Offline-First)
Serenity House uses an offline-first architecture. This means:
- Your data is primarily stored on your device in a local SQLite database
- You can use all core features without an internet connection
- Your profile photo is stored only on your device and never uploaded to our servers
- App settings are stored locally using secure device storage
4.2 Cloud Sync
When you're online, your data syncs to our cloud backend (Supabase) to:
- Back up your data
- Enable access across multiple devices
- Restore your data if you reinstall the app
4.3 Security Measures
- Encryption in transit - All data sent to our servers uses TLS/HTTPS encryption
- Encryption at rest - Cloud data is encrypted on Supabase servers
- Row Level Security - Database policies ensure you can only access your own data
- Secure authentication - We use industry-standard authentication via Supabase Auth
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
5.1 Supabase
- Purpose: Authentication, database hosting, and cloud sync
- Data shared: Account info, mood entries, journals, chat history, achievements, preferences
- Privacy Policy: supabase.com/privacy
5.2 Google Gemini AI
- Purpose: Generate AI chat responses and journal feedback
- Data shared: Chat messages and journal content (for processing only)
- Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy
AI Processing Note
When you use AI features, your message content is sent to Google's Gemini API. We do not send your name, email, or other identifying information with these requests. Google processes the data according to their AI data usage policies.
5.3 Formspree (Optional)
- Purpose: Process feedback form submissions
- Data shared: Email (if provided) and feedback message
- Privacy Policy: formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy
6. Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your data:
6.1 Access Your Data
All your data is accessible within the app. You can view your mood history, read past journals, and review chat conversations at any time.
6.2 Export Your Data
You can export your journal entries as PDF files directly from the app's Settings screen.
6.3 Delete Your Data
You can delete your data in several ways:
- Individual entries: Delete specific moods, journals, or chats within the app
- Full account deletion: Contact us to request complete account and data deletion
6.4 Correction
You can edit your profile information, journal entries, and other data directly in the app.
6.5 Data Portability
Contact us if you need your data in a portable format for transfer to another service.
7. Data Retention
- Active accounts: We retain your data as long as your account is active
- Deleted content: When you delete entries, they are removed from both local storage and cloud backup
- Account deletion: Upon account deletion request, we remove all your data within 30 days
- Backups: Deleted data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days
8. Children's Privacy
Serenity House is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected data from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:
- Posting the new Privacy Policy on this page
- Updating the "Last updated" date at the top
- Sending an in-app notification for significant changes
